It does appear to be browser version dependent because
I was just able to access it okay using Internet
Explorer in the library and the direct link worked
fine.  The problem occurred on computer in a coffee
shop which I suspect had not been updated in a long
time.  If I ever return there I will send you the
details but as I pointed out the workaround was quite
simple.  Thanks for being a source of this good info
for refs as I have referred several of my colleagues
to
the site.
